About HOQ

Welcome to The House of Quimbanda, the first authentic Quimbanda terreiro and cabula set up in the United States. Established in 2013 by ConjureMan Ali (Tata Alufa`) for the purpose of providing a reliable resource for those interested in the beautiful Afro-Brazilian tradition of Quimbanda.

In addition to providing basic Quimbanda services, the House of Quimbanda strives to bring this primal religion out of the obscurity of shadows and ignorance and to take its place alongside its cousin traditions in the African Traditional Religions as an accepted religion in the United States. There is a great deal of misinformation and ignorance regarding Quimbanda and it is the aim of the House of Quimbanda to correct these mistakes and provide information that is accurate and does justice to religion.

Quimbanda is an Afro-Brazilian tradition that previously was unheard of in the United States until recently where through the internet and the stellar works of Nicholaj de Mattos Frisvold, this tradition was presented to both the United States and Europe.

The House of Quimbanda partakes in the long and noble tradition of Quimbandieros to provide magical and spiritual services to the community. All initiates of the House of Quimbanda are part of one of the traditional macumba and Quimbanda lineages of Brazil that honor the roots of this tradition and respect its dynamic nature. The House of Quimbanda is headed by ConjureMan Ali known as Tata Alufa` an initiate and priest of Quimbanda and all initiates and mediums of the house are part of the Quimbanda lineage of Cabula Mavambo Ngobodi Nzila.

This house and terreiro is dedicated to presenting high quality information about traditional Quimbanda while also offering services to those who seek the primal fire and wisdom of this cult. We honor the almighty, creator, Nzambi and turn to his children, Exu and Pomba Gira under the Maioral for sustenance, guidance, and power. Welcome to all who are searching and may the fires of knowledge and truth be safeguarded by Exu!
